Balenciaga Debuts All-Metallic Handbags That Carry Price Tags Just As Shiny
If there’s one brand that loves a twist on typical luxuries, it’s Balenciaga. The label recently gave its popular Triple S sneaker a full-denim makeover and released a US$28,000 pair of cotton pants that were painstakingly hand-painted to appear as well-worn jeans.
Now, the luxury fashion house has placed a new spin on its Hourglass XS handbags—by making them entirely out of metal. Yup, customers can now opt for the purse in either silver or gold brass—each weighing an estimated 2.1 pounds.
Interestingly, despite its 100% hardware exterior, the tote remains fully functional, complete with a Nappa lambskin lining, removable chain strap, and magnet closure. Of course, such a unique tote comes with a fitting price tag, with the special-edition item going for US$22,840.

As Hypebeast pointed out, if one’s going for a metallic finish, perhaps a bargain option would be the Hourglass XS ‘Mirror Effect in Silver,’ which gives off a similar glean with its silver mirror calfskin exterior.
