UNO Launches Artistic New Deck Spotlighting The Beauty Of Line Drawing
By Alexa Heah, 25 Aug 2023

Throughout the years, UNO has released numerous iterations of its beloved game, including a minimalist version conceptualized by Brazilian designer Warleson Oliveira, an effervescent variation by American artist Nina Chanel Abney, and Takashi Murakami’s ultra-colorful, dreamlike deck.
Now, the popular card game has unveiled its latest foray into the art space, spotlighting the beauty of line art through a collaboration with visual artist Shantell Martin for the sixth edition of its premium Artiste Series.

A departure from the primary colors and bold numbers seen on the regular deck, Martin’s take on the game adds a playful twist with the illustrator’s signature line drawings in the form of faces, stick figures, sailboats, and more.
Fans can search for hidden messages and meanings within the special edition, including the 8-card, which wittily plays on the rhyme of “don’t be late.”

In addition, as an easter egg, each set comes with four double-sided ‘Extra Cards’ that combine to unveil two images of the artist’s original designs in both black and white.
“The UNO Artiste Series offers an incredible opportunity to infuse my art into one of the most iconic card games in the world,” said Martin.

“My art is just like my life—never following a straight line—and I hope fans find comfort in the twists and turns along the way.”
