This Vertical Turntable Mixes Modern Features With Old-Timey Aesthetics
By Nicole Rodrigues, 14 Sep 2023
As the resurgence of vinyl records continues to shape the music landscape, ToVerse, a startup, has introduced a unique addition to the world of turntables. This automatic vertical turntable integrates modern streaming capabilities while maintaining the timeless appeal of vinyl.
This innovative turntable boasts a sturdy MDF base cabinet with a vertical orientation, offering a fresh take on traditional turntable design. To operate it, users place the vinyl record on the spindle and secure it using the built-in “fixator.” Once set, a concealed motor engages a hidden belt within the platter, allowing the record to rotate at 33 or 45 rpm.
Users can easily choose between seven- and 12-inch record sizes and adjust spin speeds with uncomplicated switches. Complex tonearm adjustments have become a thing of the past, as the integrated system automatically aligns the stylus with the grooves, ensuring a hassle-free listening experience.
The turntable includes buttons for playback, stylus control, and tonearm adjustment – all without manual handling.
The turntable includes anti-resonance dual-channel speakers for superior audio quality. Furthermore, it offers Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity for wireless headphone listening, alongside a 3.5-mm jack for wired connections. RCA outputs are also available, allowing integration into a living room hi-fi system.
With a suggested retail price of US$169 and Kickstarter pledges beginning at US$109, the ToVerse vertical turntable will soon be ready for any music enthusiast to take home with them. Shipping is anticipated to commence in November.
