Coperni is dancing to the beat of 2000s mania with a bizarre nod to retro electronics.
Most remembered for spraying on a dress onto Bella Hadid on stage, the Parisian designer label is known to blur the lines between fashion and advanced technology. In March, it sent Boston Dynamics’ robot dogs trotting down its Fall/Winter 2023 runway.
Now, the brand is channeling portable CD players à la Sony’s Walkman to bring a new spin, quite literally, to its iconic Swipe bags. The metallic style, called the CD-PLAYER Swipe Bag, is 3D-printed and comes complete with wired headphones as well as realistic buttons.
Interestingly, the handbag is also built in with a USB-C-chargeable battery, but whether or not it can truly play *NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye on the go or even hold your AirPods remains to be seen.
Taking to Instagram, Coperni’s co-founder Sébastien Meyer has shared a hands-on look at the quirky aughts-inspired accessory, which is meant to be held in your hand and hooked to your ears.
The brand has yet to announce release details, unfortunately.
