As a tribute to the iconic and trailblazing Stevie Nicks, a Barbie doll has rocked into the spotlight in her visage. The Stevie Barbie debuted on the Madison Square Garden stage, where Nicks unveiled her mini-me.
Priced at US$55 and released for pre-order as part of Mattel’s Barbie Music Series, Fleetwood Mac fans were swift to snatch up the Stevie Nicks doll as it is already sold out.
This collectible Barbie pays homage to Nicks’ distinctive style, featuring her signature smoky eyes, iconic bangs, a ribboned tambourine, platform boots, and a striking golden moon necklace. The doll’s attire notably mirrors the black dress Nicks wore on the cover of Fleetwood Mac’s seminal album, Rumours. So much so that you can almost hear the faint whispers of Silver Springs or Dreams being sung as you stare at her.
In her own words, Nicks expressed a profound connection to the Stevie Barbie, characterizing it as “so pretty, so soulful, and so real.” Having drawn inspiration from the Rumours cover aesthetic, Nicks initially pondered if it would capture her essence. However, upon seeing the result, she was deeply moved by the doll’s embodiment of her spirit and heart.
My Stevie @Barbie has been with me now for several months. When Mattel came to me asking if I would like to have a Barbie made in the “Rumours” cover style I was very overwhelmed. Of course I questioned “would she look like me? Would she have my spirit? Would she have my heart…”… pic.twitter.com/JQXjF7XSMK
