Thom Browne Pays Tribute To Preppy Co-Ed Style In Its 20th-Anniversary Line
By Nicole Rodrigues, 10 Oct 2023
Thom Browne is celebrating two decades of redefining modern menswear. To mark this milestone, it has introduced a special capsule collection that draws inspiration from classic sports team uniforms, paying homage to the brand’s rich history with a touch of modern design.
The iconic fashion label found its humble beginnings in 2003 when its eponymous founder introduced a limited line of men’s tailored suits in New York City. His daring designs, marked by shorter pant lengths and slim silhouettes, challenged conventional menswear norms, eventually catapulting Browne into the fashion limelight.
The collection features a “2003” logo, representing the year the brand was founded. It was created using a crochet cross-stitch technique that results in a mock cable pattern, adding an artisanal touch to the garments.
Overall, the capsule pays homage to its co-ed aesthetic, ranging from traditional tailoring to contemporary ready-to-wear pieces.
Prominent pieces in this thoughtfully curated selection include the Chesterfield coat, cashmere sport coats, pleated wool flannel skirts, Bermuda shorts, cashmere piqué polo shirts, cardigans, and the varsity jacket.
The line also consists of accessories such as a pair of round sunglasses, a silver tie clip, a pebble grain Mr. Thom Bag with a large ‘2003’ printed on to it, and a book detailing the history of the brand.
For fashion enthusiasts eager to partake in this celebration, the capsule collection will be available at Thom Browne flagship stores and on the official website starting October 9.
