Pizza Hut is dishing out a slice of internet-viral logic to make its menu more appetizing to those always on the lookout for a steal. As it’s often said, the best things in life are free—and that’s practically what the items on its US$7 Deal Lover’s menu are. That is, according to the fast-food chain.
‘Girl Math’ is the humorous phenomenon that supports this line of reasoning. For everyone who isn’t in the Gen Z age bracket or a young millennial who’s chronically on TikTok, it often involves women substantiating their buys as “free.”
What is Girl Math?
Using this logic, shoppers might convert $200 shoes that they bought at 50% off into $100 in earnings. That means if you get two pairs of the same shoes at $100 a pair, you “save” $200.
You could further justify the splurge by breaking down the price into the number of wears. Say you love those shoes so much that you’ll wear them 365 days a year. That’s $200 / 365 = about 55 cents a day, which is close to nothing. Therefore, the shoes are basically free. Who says math lessons in school weren’t applicable in real life?
The #girlmath hashtag has amassed over a billion views on TikTok, alluding to how much people relate to it. That’s why Pizza Hut is taking a bite.
In Girl Math, we crust
Pizza Hut’s new $7 Deal Lover’s Menu lets customers order two or more favorites for US$7, seven days a week. The choices are pretty appealing, with an assortment of 17 pizzas, pastas, and more. These include medium single-topping pies, melts, eight-piece boneless wings, a double order of breadsticks, Cinnabon mini rolls, and chocolate donut bites.

Unlike many mathematical formulas where there’s only one way to get to your answer, arriving at a Girl Math solution can be quite the detour. As such, the brand has made a ‘Girl Math-terclass’ available on Hutmath.com, and facilitating the lessons is popular content creator and “Girl Mathematician” Anna Sitar.
“The title of the deal has ‘Lovers’ in it, and I love myself,” Sitar explains in a promotional video. “Girl Math.”
“Girl Math has been taking over social feeds with a comical twist on what we find to be a ‘good deal’ and how we justify some treats we want for ourselves, which is so fitting for our new $7 Deal Lover’s Menu, so it felt like the right time to get in on the joke for the menu launch,” details Lindsay Morgan, chief marketing officer at Pizza Hut.
“Girl Math trend aside, Pizza Hut believes that you shouldn’t have to choose between a great taste and a good value, and our new $7 Deal Lovers is exactly that.”
The menu is available for dine-in, takeout, and—importantly, delivery. If you’re not making the trip, you save time. And everybody knows time is money, which means that pizza is a freebie.
