Burger King is challenging those who dare to look for apparitions in unassuming places this spooky season. In exchange for your bravery and Whopper of a discovery, you could be rewarded with a tangible treat.
The fast-food chain’s Halloween activation in Spain this year is much more minimal than the years before, in that you can’t see it. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t feel its presence. Created by advertising agency DAVID Madrid, it invites eaters to snap photos of an invisible Ghost Campaign across vacant streets, buildings, switched-off televisions, and so on.

Through October 31, fans can share their sightings of these formless advertisements with Burger King Spain’s X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram accounts using the hashtag #SometimesISeeBurger.
In turn, the brand’s community manager will assume the role of a psychic to inspect the ghostly visions and determine which real menu items—ranging from a Whopper and a Long Chicken burger to nuggets—will materialize in people’s hands.
The Ghost Campaign will show up—invisibly—in posters, billboards, television commercials, and radio spots across Spain.

With other brands going hard on Halloween stunts, DAVID Madrid admits its Ghost Campaign was summoned from the pits of a creative block.
“With so many brands joining this date, it is increasingly difficult to surprise and find fresh ideas,” reveals DAVID Madrid creative director Fred Bosch.
“That’s why this time, we have left terror aside and created an idea based on humor and irreverence, so characteristic of Burger King.”
