Snoopy has touched down on your wrist in a stellar, reignited collaboration between Swatch and Omega. The latest in their time-telling odyssey is the MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase, a playful take on Omega’s iconic Speedmaster Moonwatch.
Trailing after the wildly popular Bioceramic MoonSwatch that caused a global ruckus in 2022, this new iteration offers a more affordable alternative to the highly coveted Speedmaster Professional Silver Snoopy Award watch, first introduced in 1970 to recognize NASA astronauts for their contributions to flight safety.

With that, the MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase inherits the earlier MoonSwatch’s sleek, white Bioceramic case and matching Velcro strap, with Omega and Swatch brandings displayed on the piece.
For the uninitiated, Swatch’s Bioceramic is a proprietary material crafted by injecting two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-sourced plastic. This unique blend offers a number of advantages: it’s lightweight, scratch-resistant, boasts a comfortable, tactile feel, and is even anti-allergenic. Plus, the inclusion of bio-sourced plastic makes it a more sustainable choice.

The real star of the show, of course, is Snoopy himself. He takes center stage on the subdial at two o’clock, replacing the traditional moon phase indicator.

True to the character’s laidback form, a cheeky hidden message—“I can't sleep without a night light!”—appears under UV light.

The beagle’s connection to space goes far back. Though never a real astronaut himself, he’s been NASA’s unlikely mascot for spaceflight safety since the 1960s, when Peanuts creator Charles Schulz partnered with the space agency following a space-related tragedy (the exact details remain unclear). His playful and responsible nature resonated with NASA’s goals, and he soon became a fixture in its safety program.
Snoopy’s otherworldly ties grew even stronger when the Apollo 10 crew nicknamed their lunar module after him. Today, the prized Silver Snoopy award is given by astronauts to those who make crucial contributions to safety, and Snoopy continues to be a beloved symbol of space exploration and mission success.

Now, back to Earth. The MoonSwatch features a quartz chronograph movement with a lunar phase function—a first for a Swatch chronograph. While not quite housing the legendary manual-wound Omega Speedmaster movement, this non-limited model offers a fun and functional timepiece at just US$310, a fraction of the price. It’s one small step for design and a giant leap for affordable chronograph lovers.
Notably, this isn’t Snoopy’s first adventure on our wrists. Apple’s latest watchOS 10 includes a playful and highly interactive Peanuts watch face, where Snoopy and Woodstock come to life by engaging with the Apple Watch’s hands, reacting to the weather, and even getting active when you do a workout.
