Adidas Kicks Off The Laughs With Absurd ‘The Box Shoe’

Adidas is stepping up its chunky sneaker game with a wacky style called ‘The Box Shoe’, unveiled earlier this week through its Confirmed app for exclusive drops.
The true-blue classic has the ultimate boxy fit—it fully mimics an Adidas Originals shoebox, complete with the signature blue and cloud white color scheme and three-stripe branding. Where this silhouette (or structure) stands out from your everyday packaging is its cutout for slipping your foot into.

Meanwhile, thick laces are woven into the “natural fiber” (read: paper) upper, which comes with a flap acting as the “tongue.”

“Blurring the lines between product and packaging, these Adidas shoes are truly out of the box,” the sportswear giant describes in the app.
The sneaky sneakers are no doubt head-turning, but it may be nearly impossible to get your hands on a pair. Adidas says it will share the listing’s price “upon request,” pointing to its exclusivity.

The real kicker is the product code, “AF0104,” which suggests that the shoe is an April Fools’ prank. Fret not; you could easily DIY a pair with wearability of equal measure.
