It’s a Barbie grill in a Barbie world. An unexpected duo unlike Barbie and Ken, Heinz UK and Mattel have joined hands to cook up a whimsical new condiment—the punning Heinz Classic Barbiecue Sauce—in time for the beloved doll’s 65th anniversary and summer grilling season.
A delicious twist on the Barbiecore trend, Heinz’s Barbiecue Sauce is made for all to enjoy, aptly fitting into the story of inclusivity in the Greta Gerwig film. It’s not ketchup (you’d have to wait for the brand to launch Ken-chup to make that happen), but a vegan mayonnaise with smoky barbecue sauce ingredients, infused with beetroot extract for a vivid pink hue. This eye-catching color promises to “brighten up a burger,” according to Heinz, much like Barbie herself has done in the world of fashion and toys.

During the height of the Barbie movie, Heinz UK first made fans green with envy turn flush pink with mockups of Barbiecue Sauce and Kenchup last August. Now, it seems to have transported one-half of this concept out from Barbieland and into the real world.

Currently, the sauce is available exclusively in the UK and Spain, with the first 5,000 bottles sold directly through Heinz’s website. Retail availability will follow, starting at Tesco on April 17 and expanding to other retailers like Ocado in May, priced at £3.39 (US$4.22).
