Google and Apple have called a truce. Well, sort of. In a surprising advertising campaign launched by the Android maker, two unlikely pals connect over their differences—but one of them still has its tail between its legs.

Perhaps hurling payback for those unflattering Get a Mac commercials from the early 2000s that featured personifications of a PC (represented by a clumsy ‘John Hodgman’) and a Mac (represented by a smart ‘Justin Long’), Google’s Best Phones Forever series envisions the Pixel 7 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro as close friends, with the latter being the more insecure of the two.

“When I turned 14, I started to see things differently,” bemoans the iPhone, before launchinginto a rant about how it doesn’t have cool features like the Pixel’s astrophotography mode, Call Assist, and 30X Zoom.

“But what about your blue bubbles? They’re so blue,” the Google phone says in an attempt to comfort its friend.

In another video, the iPhone is on the brink of death, but it gets resuscitated by a generous, battery-sharing Google Pixel 7 Pro.

Stirring awake, the iPhone apologizes for the trouble and explains it was “binging that show about the friendly soccer coach.”

In this spot, the pair goes star-gazing… but a little inconvenience slightly ruins the otherwise sweet moment.

Here, the rival’s device is compromised because it’s in an area with sketchy Wi-Fi.

And, finally, the iPhone mourns about other perceived shortcomings, including its inability to “open up, ”as in, fold.
