The second season of Netflix’s You sees the protagonist Joe Goldberg (played by Penn Badgley) living under another identity and being “forced” to relocate to Los Angeles. Based on a series of novels by Caroline Kepnes, the show follows the story of the murderous stalker, who often narrates what goes on in his mind, giving viewers a look into his psyche.
Netflix has now unveiled a video perhaps more terrifying than the original version. It shows several clips without Joe’s voiceovers, making the pin-drop silence both painful and creepy to watch.
The chilling supercut sees Joe staring blankly in parts when audiences can originally hear his mind’s voice.
One especially eerie scene depicts Joe and his romantic interest, Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), together as he eats her food quietly. Love watches him for a reaction but he remains awkwardly quiet. She then nudges for a response, and of course, he replies with silence. Finally, she takes it as he is just “speechless.”
This sequence starts at the 0:15 mark in the video below.
