Kobe Bryant will be honored on the upcoming cover of TIME magazine.
The publication announced in a tweet that the special cover will be hitting stands on 31 January. The black-and-white commemorative cover features an image of the Los Angeles Lakers player captured from the back. Bryant wore his No. 24 jersey with his name plastered above the number.
He seemed to be taking a bow in front of an audience while a spotlight shone above him. The cover read, “Kobe Bryant. 1978-2020.”
Bryant, together with eight other people including his daughter Gianna, died after the helicopter they were in unfortunately crashed into a hillside. Bryant was only 41.
According to a 2018 interview with Barstool Sports’ podcast, Bryant opted to ride on helicopters to beat Los Angeles’ traffic in hopes of spending more time with his family.
