This year, Jeep enlisted Bill Murray for its Super Bowl commercial, inviting him to relive his role from the 1993 film Groundhog Day decades later as part of an endless time loop. The movie sees Murray’s character waking up every day and going through the same thing all over again.
In this ad, however, Murray turns out to be ecstatic about waking up the same morning because of a sweet new Jeep. As he goes about his day, a bystander says, “Hey, you’re going to freeze to death,” to which Murray responds gleefully, “Who cares? See you tomorrow!”
This year’s Super Bowl spots saw a star-studded lineup, including Bryan Cranston and Tracee Ellis for The Shining-based Mountain Dew ad and John Krasinski, Chris Evans and Rachel Dratch for a Boston-centered Hyundai ad.
