Taika Waititi put Apple’s laptop keyboards on a blast while speaking to journalists after winning his first Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
When he was asked about his opinion about what writers should demand in a discussion with producers, Waititi decided to talk about Apple’s products instead.
“Apple needs to fix those keyboards,” he said. “They’re impossible to write on—they have gotten worse.”
Waititi added that the “horrendous Apple keyboards” pushed him to revert to PCs. “Because PC keyboards, the bounce-back for your fingers is way better. Hands up who still uses a PC? It’s a way better keyboard,” he continued.
Waititi elaborated that he has Occupational Overuse Syndrome, and the narrowness of the keys on Apple’s variations were causing tensions in his shoulders and tendons, a problem one deals with when they spend a lot of time typing.
It is unclear if Waititi has tried Apple’s new 16-inch Macbook Pro that was released last year, as the notebook features a redesigned scissor-switch keyboard instead of the much-debated “butterfly” design.
