If all the emojis in the world aren’t enough to sum up what you’re feeling, you can now be the Masterchef of your own emoticon world, thanks to Gboard’s new ‘Emoji Kitchen’ feature.
The option is now available on Gboard for Android, the default keyboard in pretty much every Android device but Samsung’s. As its name suggests, the tool lets you mash up emojis, not unlike game recipes where you’re encouraged to experiment with various ingredients.
“We affectionately refer to this feature as Emoji Kitchen, because you can explore new ‘recipes’ of expressions using your favorite emoji as ingredients,” Jennifer Daniel, Creative Director of Emoji at Google, explains in a blog post.
For instance, you can add heart eyes to a ghost, put rolling eyes on the kissy face emoji, and even make a pile of poop fall in love.
The icons aren’t exactly emojis. They’re actually stickers handcrafted by Google’s designers, and appear as sticker recommendations when you select specific emojis. If you tap on the ‘Nerd Face’ emoji, for example, you’ll be shown a whole lineup of applications including a kissy face or monkey with glasses.
According to Fast Company, there are currently about 800 combinations available in Emoji Kitchen.
The stickers are compatible across apps, including Gmail, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Snapchat, and Messages by Google.
