Starbucks’ locations in Japan are driving a lot of envy around the world. There’s the traditional tatami-style townhouse in Kyoto for culturophiles, the futuristic cherry blossom and origami-themed store in Tokyo, and a coffee bar with boozy drinks in Osaka.
Its next outlet is set to bloom all over Instagram when it opens on 14 March, coinciding with cherry blossom season. The upcoming Starbucks will open at the new Hana Biyori greenhouse run by amusement park Yomiuriland.
The 16,146-square-foot area will be decked with greenery all year, including petunias, fuchsias, bellflowers, geraniums, and begonias in the form of floral chandeliers.
Flora aside, the greenhouse café will house two large aquariums featuring 1,200 colorful fish spanning 50 species. A 26-foot tank will display saltwater fish and corals from Okinawa, while a 9.8-foot aquarium will be filled with greenery and rock formations.
On the southern terrace of the botanical garden, guests will be greeted with rows of flower beds. The greenhouse will also go dark four to six times a day, and that’s when the magic happens—digital light and sound projections created by 20 projectors and 18 speakers will be cast across the room, incorporating the surrounding flowers. There will also be an otter enclosure and a rotation of workshops when the greenhouse opens.
