Facebook has unveiled a redesigned Messenger app, which is now “faster, simpler and smaller.” The streamlined iOS app will load twice as fast and take up only one-fourth of its original size.
The platform revealed that the revamped app was rebuilt from the ground up with its core code reduced by 84 percent, or in other words, whittled down from over 1.7 million lines of code to just 360,000. Evidently, this would make the app a lot more responsive and lighter.
The new Messenger features a simplified interface with faster starts, downloads and updates.
The social network announced that it will begin rolling out the overhauled Messenger in the next few weeks. For more information, head on over here.
