18-year-old Billie Eilish is known for wearing baggy clothes and layering her outfits. During her concert in Miami, she unexpectedly unveiled a short clip that took down body-shamers who had criticized her throughout her career.
The singer addressed those who judged her body and the way she dresses in a monologue read by Eilish herself over the video.
“I feel your stares, your disapproval,” she could be heard narrating in the clip, which first captured her unzipping her top.
As she was shown undressing, the Grammy-winning star continued to reflect on what it meant to be an individual and the inability to please everyone.
“If I wear what is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I’m a slut,” she said.
The singer directed the statements at her critics, and affirmed her fans that no one had the power to control her identity except for herself, and that they could do the same for themselves.
She ended her declaration by assuring that she was not responsible for naysayers’ opinions of her.
"if what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. if I shed the layers, I am a slut.

if I wear more, if I wear less, who decides what that makes me? what that means? is my value based only on your perception? or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?"#BillieEilish 🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/fGA7KoXvt9
