Brazil’s famous Christ the Redeemer statue lit up with flags of countries that have been greatly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The massive statue of Jesus Christ that overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro is normally illuminated with a bright white light.
However, it was covered with the different flags, as well of messages of hope, last Wednesday to show solidarity to the affected countries. Phrases like “Praying together” in multiple languages were projected on the statue.
Brazil’s government announced that the 125-foot-tall iconic statue has been closed for a week due to the pandemic.
