In light of the coronavirus outbreak, many people are self-isolating to contain the spread of the virus. Instagram aims to connect people stuck at home by rolling out new features, including a Co-Watching function.
The new Co-Watching update enables users to browse Instagram posts together with their friends over video chat.
To get started, you’ll need to launch a video chat with a friend and then click on the photo icon located on the bottom right. A list of the posts you’ve recently liked will appear, which you can pick to show in your conversation.
Those who have not tried the video chat feature before can simply click on the arrow button on the top right to access Direct, then tap on the video icon on the top right to pick a user to start chatting with.
Instagram also shared that it will be offering relatable stickers and helpful resources on its platform to keep users updated on the COVID-19 situation to prevent misinformation.
Here’s what the Co-Watching feature looks like.
