Who knew that you’d one day miss working in an office? No thanks to the global coronavirus pandemic, people are now getting on their days in the confines of their own homes—which, admittedly, didn’t sound so terrible on paper. But as days stretched to weeks and weeks stretched to months, the isolation seems louder than anything.
If you do feel deprived of the inevitable background noise of the workplace, Europe-based creative agency Kids has launched an “office noise generator” that replicates the “soothing tones of modern office life” to keep you productive while working from home.
The site, titled I Miss the Office, entails the clickety-clackety of a keyboard, the ringing of a telephone, the unbearable chewing noises of a coworker, and so on. Annoying but strangely divine.
You can activate sounds by clicking on the interactive objects on the page, and even toggle the number of employees present for the most realistic effects.
The agency encourages that you “close your eyes and imagine you’re in the office. Beautiful, right?”
What a bizarre Black Mirror episode we’re living in.
