Fashion designer Christian Siriano has donated almost 10,000 face masks for frontline healthcare workers to ease a shortage during the coronavirus pandemic.
The former Project Runway winner stopped his clothing production to create the face masks. With support from New York’s Governor Andrew Cuomo, he set out on his mission to produce 10,000 face masks to meet the demands of personal protection equipment in hospitals in the US.
Now, he is on the way to meet his goal, and celebrated the significant milestone on Twitter. “We have now donated almost 100,000 masks which is unbelievable,” he wrote in the post.
“I am just in a unique scenario where I manufacture everything in New York already, I have a working atelier and everyone's working from home, and my office is a townhouse. We’re just able to make them,” Siriano explained his feat in mass-producing the face masks to Harper’s Bazaar in March.
