Street artists around the world have presented their personal tributes to remember George Floyd, who was killed by a Minneapolis cop last week.
Along with a group of artists who created a beautiful painting to honor Floyd at the site where he passed on, his memory lives on through street art created by artists worldwide.
A mural ofFloyd was done up by artists Aziz Asmar and Anis Hamdoun in the city of Binnish, Syria. The phrase, “No To Racism,” were labeled around Floyd’s face, while the words, “I can’t breathe,” was displayed on the side. They were the last few words uttered by Floyd before he unfortunately lost his life.
In Barcelona, Spain, artist TVBoy did a mural of Floyd holding up a heart with the message, “Stop racism.” Artist EME Freethinker in Berlin, Germany also created an artwork with the chilling words, “I can’t breathe,” beside Floyd’s face.
Similar masterpieces have been cropping up in several cities, including Berlin, Barcelona, Dublin, Manchester, in honor of Floyd. Take a look at some below.
Teach kids about racism & privilege. Teach them to recognise their privilege- white, class, straight, cis, male privilege & teach them to be allies. Teach them to always stand up to racism & discrimination. Teach them to do better than the generations that came before them. pic.twitter.com/zpSWGXZNgu
