Art Basel’s June edition of its Online Viewing Room, a virtual platform that displays artworks online to connect art galleries from around the world during the coronavirus pandemic, will take place from 17 June 2020 to 26 June 2020.
Its first-ever virtual art fair took place earlier in March as a replacement to its yearly Hong Kong-based exhibit, which was postponed due to COVID-19.
The 2020 edition in Basel has also been canceled due to uncertainties surrounding the virus crisis worldwide. Thankfully, the June edition of its Online Viewing Room will offer the much-needed dosage of art to people around the world.
The upcoming edition will feature over 4,000 works, including painting sculpture, drawings, installation and photography, as well as video and digital presentations.
Over 200 leading galleries from 35 countries across Europe, America, Middle East, Africa, and Asia will participate in the digital spectacle.
In the lineup of galleries, fans can expect to see works reflecting on the impacts of the pandemic. Jack Shainman’s Gallery’s Reach out and touch me explores the power of physical intimacy in a time when it is frowned upon due to health concerns.
The June edition will run from 19 June 2020 till 26 June 2020, and the preview for members will be available from 17 June to 19 June 2020. View the participating galleries, go on studio visits, and experience virtual walkthroughs via Art Basel’s official website.
