Netflix has teased a series of short films aptly titled Homemade, as it was shot fully during the coronavirus pandemic.
The project was conceived and put together by Pablo Larraín, director of Ema and Spencer, who will soon be releasing a film based on Princess Diana’s marriage.
Kristen Stewart, who will be starring in Larraín’s Princess Diana film, also took part in the series with her very own short film. Stewart had her directorial debut back in 2017 for the film Come Swim.
The quarantine project also includes films shot by directors Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gurinder Chadha, and Paolo Sorrentino, Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison, and more.
The project helped further nurture creativity in isolation as there were no crew members, tools, resources, or production materials at the locations where the films were shot.
There will also be a donation made in honor of the filmmakers through Netflix’s Hardship Fund to aid nonprofits supporting cast and crew members who are out of work amid the virus crisis.
