Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup may not include a power adapter and earphones in their boxes, according to renowned tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Apple usually includes a power adapter and a pair of wired EarPods in each iPhone box. However, Kuo deduced that the tech giant will sell them separately due to the high production costs of the components needed to support 5G.
The change is said to apply to the new iPhone 12 models and the new iPhone SE, which will be released later this year. The absence of accessories will allow for more eco-friendly packaging, but Apple will not cut costs for the iPhone. The iPhone 12 model will be priced similarly to the iPhone 11.
Apple is also rumored to release the 20W power adapter as an optional accessory and stop production of its existing 5W and 18W power adapters at the end of this year, MacRumors reported. Kuo shared an image of a 20W adapter that is believed to look similar to the 18W version.
He added that the iPads—the 10.8-inch model and the iPad mini—will include the 20W charger in the box.
