More than ever, people are stepping up to stay safe. While this should have been a necessity from the beginning, the COVID-19 situation has forced the world into introspection and to reconsider its priorities.
In a campaign published in June, Durex UK looks back at intimate relationships before the crisis and laments at how apathetic they used to be. It is now asking all “arms, legs, bums and private parts” to evolve from “normal” and change their old habits for “better, safer sex.”
“Normal was making rubbish excuses for not wearing a condom. Normal was shaming women for even carrying one,” the condom company recounted in a video produced by advertising agency Havas London. “Normal was one million needless STIs. Every. Single. Day.”
“The world has never been so ready for change,” Durex reminded. “So, let’s all change it for the better. Sure, it’s been pretty weird lately. But weirdly, that’s what makes 2020 really important.”
Durex urged viewers to channel their newfound perceptions from the isolation into life after the lockdown. “So, when it’s time to get back out on the streets and jump back in the sheets, let’s not go back to normal,” it asked. “Let’s have better, safer sex. For everyone. Forever.”
