Coldplay celebrated the 20th anniversary of its debut album Parachutes by unveiling unseen footage from the shoot for the iconic Yellow music video.
The band members, Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, released the rare clip on Instagram with the caption, “Take one of the Yellow video (we’ve never shown this before).”
Coldplay detailed on Instagram that there were “loads of extras” in the first shoot, but they were sent home at 4pm as it was raining the whole day. Martin then requested the cameraman to film him walking down the beach.
“[Martin] grabbed the cameraman and said, ‘let’s just walk down the beach,’” the caption explained.
The official release—shot entirely in slow motion—saw Martin, drenched by the rain, walking down the beach as he belted out the lyrics to Yellow.
However, in the newly-released clip, Martin can be seen wearing a bright red top, dry and barefooted, with extras in the background.
