TikTok users are not pleased with Donald Trump “looking into” banning the app in the US.
The US president is considering banning the app due to its connection with China and the coronavirus. The app is owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based tech company.
In an interview with Fox News, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed that anybody who downloads the app will run the risk of placing “private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.”
When asked about banning the app, Trump told Gray Television, “It’s a big business. Look, what happened with China with this virus, what they've done to this country and to the entire world is disgraceful.”
TikTok users are now threatening “war” against Trump if he decides to prohibit the app in the US.
Previously, several TikTokkers reserved empty seats to a Trump rally in Tulsa, which resulted in an unexpectedly poor turnout.
US Navy and Army service people have already been banned from downloading the app over the fear of their data being breached by the Chinese government, per CNET.
