The highly anticipated Studio Ghibli theme park in Japan will be opening its doors in fall 2022, /Film reports.
The theme park was initially planned to open in 2020. However, constructions had been halted for two weeks in April due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The theme park is located at Aichi Expo Commemorative Park. It will be split into five different worlds of Studio Ghibli films.
According to /Film, there are currently three areas under construction: The Hill of Youth area, based on Whisper of the Heart and Howl’s Moving Castle, the Giant Warehouse area, inspired by Spirited Away and the Dondoko Forests that embodies My Neighbor Totoro.
There are still two other areas that haven’t begun construction. It is said to be the Mononoke Village, based on Princess Mononoke and the Witch Valley, which is based on Kiki’s Delivery Service and Howl’s Moving Castle. These areas are set to start construction in 2021.
The concept art of the theme park has already enthralled fans. Preview them below.
