You could see the wheels spinning in Axios journalist Jonathan Swan’s head as he got more and more confused in his now-viral interview with US president Donald Trump, giving the world a new set of emoji to sum up 2020 with his multifaceted facial expressions.
Or maybe, during the whole time Trump had applauded the US’ coronavirus response and provided supporting charts that didn’t actually confirm what he was defending, the reporter imagined the president might as well be singing to him in gibberish instead.
While Swan’s reactions have stolen the internet’s attention, Trump is reclaiming his spot in meme-dom with a hilarious video edit by theme park music composer Nick Hutson, who has wonderfully appropriated a small snippet of the interview into The Muppet’s Mah Nà Mah Nà.
In his self-proclaimed “piece of art,” Hutson simply replaces the nonsensical lyric with a clip of Trump saying “phenomena.” It surprisingly fits like a glove.
Wouldn’t it be great if this was what really went through the journalist’s mind during POTUS’ sharing?
