Following the footsteps of BMW and Rolls Royce, luxury car brand Maserati has updated its logo.
The Italian automobile launched its brand new MC20 sports car last week, but eagle-eyed fans pointed out that the model also carries an updated trident logo.
Maserati decided to remove decorative features of the symbol—the lightning bolt and the oval border—making it look “more modern, balanced and elegant,” it claimed. The simplified logo now only features its trident, which is a symbol of “courage and strength.” It is inspired by Neptune’s statue in Piazza Maggiore, Bologna, where the company is based.
The brand’s wordmark also received a subtle change. The “Maserati” logo has been sharpened and streamlined, giving off a much contemporary look.
