Auction house Sotheby’s just launched a ‘Cult Canvas’ online sale featuring a collection of rare artist-made Nike sneakers. There are a total of 11 exclusive Nike kicks that can’t be easily found elsewhere.
The selection includes the Jeff Staple-designed Nike Dunk SB Low ‘Pigeon’, released in 2005. The current price for the pair is listed at over US$144,000 on resale platforms, such as StockX.
Sneakerheads can also get their hands on one of only 24 pairs of Nike Dunk High Pro SB ‘FLOM’ in the world, which bears an online resale price of over US$270,000. The limited-edition footwear was created by renowned artist Leonard Hilton McGurr, also known as Futura 2000, back in 2005.
The series also consists of one of 12 Nike Dunk SB pairs designed by Japanese artist Katsuya Terada. The prototypes were never released or reproduced since its creation.
“This is a highly curated and extremely selective grouping of some of the most important artist-created sneakers and designs to be released in Nike’s history,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s director of e-commerce development, shared in a statement.
The ‘Cult Canvas’ auction kicked off today, and will run till 30 September 2020 online.
