In light of National Consignment Day, Gucci has partnered with online marketplace the RealReal to sell pre-loved items.
This move is a part of Gucci’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability in the fashion industry. The brand hopes to extend the life cycle of its products through the new site.
“Gucci is raising the bar not only for the fashion industry but for all companies by continuously innovating to make its business more sustainable,” the RealReal’s CEO and founder, Julie Wainwright, said. “Together we’re shining a global spotlight on resale that we hope will encourage all consumers to support the circular economy and join us in reducing fashion's carbon footprint.”
The partnership will see the label working alongside the online marketplace through the end of 2020.
Both companies have also teamed up with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for all the purchases or US consignments made through the new platform.
