No matter how long ago your childhood days are, taking a whiff of that Play-Doh smell will probably bring you back to the most carefree time of your life.
Taking a page out of LEGO’s playbook, Hasbro has launched an array of Play-Doh for Grown Ups. However, these versions aren’t going to smell exactly like the nostalgic, original version—nay, Play-Doh has taken things further by imbuing them with essences more familiar to the olfactories of anyone in a quarter- or mid-life crisis.
The multipack of six colors is available in the scents of: ‘Dad Sneakers’ (rubber); ‘Grill King’ (smoky barbecued meats); ‘Lord of the Lawn’ (fresh-cut grass); ‘Mom Jeans’ (clean denim); ‘Overpriced Latte’ (coffee); and ‘Spa Day’ (floral). Unfortunately, there’s no equivalent to joint relief creams.
The new Play-Doh variations also come in a different packaging, which is, of course, decked in black to keep things sophisticated and profesh.
Interestingly, Play-Doh was originally created for adults, and was previously a cleaning product used to pick up soot and dirt from wallpapers, HuffPost reports. It was only in the 1950s that the dough-like material became a toy, as vinyl wallpapers had become the go-to and coal furnaces weren’t as commonplace anymore.
Admittedly, grown-up Play-Doh could be a welcome addition in an era where people vent their frustrations on stress balls, squish toys, and slime.
