Pepsi has released a commercial featuring a freestyle rap from Christopher Wallace, famously known by his stage name Notorious B.I.G, to mark his posthumous induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The freestyle, which has never been released until now, features Biggie rapping about his appreciation for the soda. “Nothing can beat the P-E-P-S-I drink it constantly,” he declares in the song. “Something about the taste feels great, less filling. Tell ’em Biggie said drink it all, don’t test me. Nothing else beats a Pepsi,” he continues.
The track was originally recorded at D&D Studios with DJ Enuff in 1997, and has been given a fresh remaster for the Pepsi commercial.
According to Variety, Pepsi worked with two of Biggie’s closest collaborators, Cey Adams and DJ Enuff, for the freestyle.
The ad ends with a message about Biggie’s upcoming induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 7 November. Watch the spot below.
