L’Oreal Paris has launched a line of digital makeup that works on video via AR technology. The digital makeup tool allows internet users to try out different looks on Snapchat, Instagram, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Hangouts.
The beauty company teamed up with creative agency Virtue to release a ‘Signature Faces’ feature so users can virtually “wear” makeup looks for live video calls across different social media platforms. This new service is L’Oreal’s response to the ongoing challenges faced by the makeup industry, which relies on customers physically testing products to ensure the color match. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been possible due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The team launched 10 virtual filters across three themes—Voluminizing Capsules, which consists of 3D speckles of chrome and glitter to embellish eyelids and lashes; Plump shot, lustrous gloss on lids and lips; and Fire Match, a smoky eyeshadow with matte lipstick.
To use Signature Faces on Instagram, head to L’Oreal Paris’ profile, where you can find the filter and use it to snap a selfie.
On the desktop, you can locate the filters on Snap Camera, which is compatible for use during virtual meetings.
