Your Air Jordans could soon lace themselves up.
Nike has revealed that the Jordan Brand has incorporated its Adapt technology to the iconic Air Jordan 11. The sneakers are equipped with the self-lacing technology, which wearers are able to control via Bluetooth using the Nike app.
The app also allows wearers to adjust how the sneakers fit in real-time and change the color scheme of the midsole buttons.
Although the technology is new, the Jordan Brand said that its designer, Tinker Hatfield, has wanted the Air Jordan 11 to be laceless for 25 years.
“The Adapt iteration takes the silhouette into Jordan Brand’s future. By folding in the best of Nike technology, we’ve delivered on Tinker’s original vision of the Air Jordan 11, while simultaneously offering wearers the most personalized Jumpman shoes to date,” Jordan Brand VP Martin Lotti said.
The sneakers have a white colorway with an icy outsole and a black mesh tongue. The Apart laces are colored in black while the Jumpman branding is colored in red.
The Air Jordan XI Adapt will be available from 30 December via the Nike SNKRS app and it will set you back for US$500.
Tinker originally designed the Air Jordan 11 to be laceless. 25 years later, it will be.
