Apple has recently unveiled its innovative M1 chip to replace Intel chips in its MacBooks. Now, it seems like the tech juggernaut might be working on the followup, allegedly dubbed the ‘M1X’.
Apple’s current M1 chip is touted to offer five times more graphics performance and up to 11 times faster processing for machine-learning tasks compared to the brand’s Intel predecessors.
Twitter account LeaksApplePro suggested that the new version will upgrade from an eight-core configuration to a 12-core configuration. There might be eight high-performance cores and four efficiency cores in the alleged edition, boosting the power and speed of the chip.
The ‘M1X’ moniker isn’t official yet and may change if the company ends up releasing the rumored chip.
The Twitter post also quoted a source claiming, “if you think M1 is fast, you haven’t seen M1X.”
As exciting as it sounds, the company hasn’t hinted the advanced M1 chip yet, so you’ll have to wait for a bit for the possible good news.
