Given the rollercoaster ride that was 2020, the image of Bernie Sanders seated at the inauguration ceremony with his arms crossed, not engaging with his surroundings, is a big mood. It has thus inevitably become 2021’s greatest meme so far.
While everyone has been planting the United States Senate for Vermont into all kinds of scenarios, IKEA Greece is instead inviting you to channel your inner Sanders. In an amusing new advertisement published on social media, the furniture giant shows you how to “get the look” on a shoestring budget of only €11 (US$13).
Sanders’ mittens are one-of-a-kind and crafted from recycled sweaters and bottles, so it would be difficult to completely replicate them. However, you can achieve something close with lookalike VARDAGEN oven gloves and, of course, a GUNDE folding chair to tie the look together.
The creative was produced by advertising agency Ogilvy Greece for some laughs soon after the meme broke.
