Nestlé UK & Ireland has announced its commitment to using 100-percent recycled paper for its future outdoor advertising campaigns this year. The company teamed up with a specialist location marketing agency, Posterscope, in an effort to create sustainable out-of-home advertising.
All of the brand’s six-sheet paper posters will be made using green painting techniques on recycled paper. The duo has conducted extensive research to ensure that the recycled printing techniques will retain the quality of the outdoor posters.
The current standard paper being used by the company has no recycled content. This new version, however, will be made up of collected used paper that has gone through ink removal and pulping before reaching the papermaking stage.
In the old processes, chlorine is used to brighten paper. The chemical is eliminated in the new recycling process. Further, all inks used in the printing process will be eco-friendly with a vegetable base.
“We are proud to be the first advertiser in the UK to commit to using 100% recycled paper for all of our outdoor six-sheet paper poster campaigns for the rest of the year,” said group marketing director at Nestlé UK&I, Alain Duvaud. “Nestlé has a role to play in reducing our impact on the environment and that is why we have made a commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.”
