The Apple Watch might just be getting blood sugar-monitoring capabilities in the near future.
Just recently, The Telegraph and Forbes reported that UK tech firm Rockley Photonics had confirmed in an SEC filing that it has a continuing deal to develop future products for Apple.
With the firm’s core focus on sensors that track blood glucose, blood pressure, and even intoxication levels, the document has heightened speculations that one of these features may be coming to the Apple Watch soon.
According to Engadget, there’s been growing interest in developing wearable blood sugar monitors that don’t require needles. If Apple can incorporate that technology into the Apple Watch, it’ll mean that diabetics don’t have to prick themselves daily to test blood glucose levels.
Other features like blood pressure tracking and alcohol monitoring could help too. From preventing drink-driving to alerting for a possible stroke, these medical-related features would add to the Apple Watch’s push to be the best health watch on the market.
