Inspired by the Samurai armor, G-Shock’s new Hana-Basara watch is a collector’s item for the brand’s 25th anniversary.
Decked out in gold, black, red, and green – colors of the armor – the watch is named after a nickname given out to the top Samurai warriors who “combined strength and a bold, lavish aesthetic.”
The watch doesn’t just look like something a modern-day Samurai would wear, it also sports a bezel made out of Cobarion, a substance four times harder than titanium, so it could certainly be worn by Japan’s finest. To honor the inspiration behind the watch, the indices on the dial have also been designed to mimic the curve of a Samurai sword.
Along with a titanium band, the Hana-Basara features a case back made from a dark green finish, inspired by a color the Japanese call kurogane-iro, or “iron color.”
It also comes with solar power functions, an LED light, Multiband 6 technology, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. In honor of the brand’s 25th anniversary, “25th LIMITED” is engraved on the back of the watch, too.
The unique Samurai-inspired watch will cost a pretty penny at US$8,000, and will available from July at selected G-Shock retailers and online.
