Oreos have their elaborate stamped design, and Ritz crackers wouldn’t be Ritz crackers without their iconic scalloped edges. As it seems, the ridges honor one of the greatest snack combinations in existence: cheese and crackers. At least, that’s according to the brand.
Taking to TikTok, the official Ritz Crackers account claims in a new video that the snack is designed to cut cheese, so you won’t have to wash any knives. “The more you know,” the company says.
Uncovered by the New York Post, the new clip shows a person rolling a cracker over a slice of cheese to break it into two, almost like how you would use a pizza cutter.
Dumbfounded by the trick, social media users have had mixed reactions to this so-called revelation. “My life is a lie,” one user comments. Others share that they have been cutting their snacking cheese this way all along.
Another user calls bluff, saying that Ritz Crackers “just made this up.” In response, the company declares, “But we’re Ritz; we’re allowed to.”
Countering naysayers who suggest just tearing the cheese with their hands, Ritz proclaims doing so would “loosen” it.
Would you cut your cheese this way, or should this suggestion be tossed aside like an unnecessarily restrictive UNO rule?
