Binance’s NFT marketplace is partnering the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, to introduce digital collectibles depicting works by some of the most famous artists of all time. All Binance users will be able to participate in the upcoming auction.
Tokenized artworks including Da Vinci’s Madonna Litta, van Gogh’s Lilac Bush, Claude Monet’s Corner of the Garden at Montgeron, and Giorgione’s Judith will be sold as NFTs.
Two NFT copies will be made of each masterpiece, one of which will be auctioned off, and the other kept at the museum. Each NFT will be signed and dated by the museum’s director, Mikhail Piotrovsky.
According to Cointelegraph, the collection aims to emphasize “the democratic nature of the museum,” with the tokens highlighting “the importance of digitalization as a new stage in the world of collect artworks.”
“Recognition of blockchain technology and NFTs by one of the largest museums in the world is another step towards global digitalization. We highly appreciate the opportunity to cooperate with The State Hermitage; together we are making history,” said Helen Hai, head of Binance NFT.
All proceeds from the auction will go towards The State Hermitage Museum, with the museum planning a special NFT art exhibition in the fall.
