Earlier this summer, Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk confirmed that the company’s iteration of a pickup truck, the Cybertruck, would feature no door handles as part of its design.
He said that although handles weren’t incorporated, the vehicle would allow its passengers to get in and out via sensor detection of their presence triggering the doors to automatically open. A welcome idea following the pandemic, albeit a little wacky and pretty futuristic, Musk-style.
Apart from this, he hadn’t delved into much other detail.
However, recently, a sighting of a rare Cybertruck in the wild has caught the attention of fans and EV enthusiasts alike. Now, this isn’t the first time one of these has been spotted out and about, but one thing in particular stood out this time.

Previously, the trucks that were spotted all had some form of retractable door handles. However, this one didn’t appear to have an inkling of anything like that at all. It didn’t seem to be extreme seamlessness or a trick to the eye. It was just… not there.
But it’s also important to take this with a pinch of salt as the videos posted online, particularly the one that picked up speed on Reddit, aren’t boasting the best quality.
Indeed, if the door handles are extremely faint, there’s a possibility that they might’ve not been picked up in the grainy clip.
