Netflix is partnering with Starbucks in its latest venture, the Netflix Book Club, geared toward fans of literature and onscreen adaptations alike.
The series is titled But Have You Read the Book? after the infamous question that almost always comes up when discussing movies, and will feature selections from the Book Club, exploring how the story is brought “from page to screen.”
With Uzo Aduba from Orange Is the New Black as the series host, each episode will take place in a different Starbucks location across the US. This will follow the conversation between Aduba and the cast, creators, and authors of the movies and books.
“Coffee brings us together for a shared experience with loved ones, friends, and even strangers,” Starbucks CMO, Brady Brewer, explains. “Starbucks has built a community over the years for people to have conversations with one another about literature and entertainment.”
The series hopes that every episode will allow for a look behind the scenes of popular titles, and also encourage similar conversations between the audience.
“From Bridgerton, To All the Boys and Sweet Magnolias to Queen’s Gambit, Unorthodox, Virgin River and of course Orange Is the New Black, Netflix loves bringing books to life on screen and creating conversation with passionate readers and fans,” Netflix CMO, Bozoma Saint John, says in a statement.
First in the lineup is Passing by Nella Larsen, which is a book-turned-film that will be streamed on Netflix beginning November 10. Then, on November 16, the first episode of But Have You Read the Book? will be aired live on the Still Watching channel on YouTube as well as Netflix US’ Facebook channel.
