Snapchat is offering a holiday shopping experience for users who might not be able to make it to the festive markets or their favorite stores this year-end.
Harnessing the power of augmented reality, which the company is no stranger to, this virtual market will open on Black Friday (November 26) with immersive experiences from six stores. These include Coca-Cola, Hollister, Prime Video, Under Armour, Verizon, and Walmart.
Each will have its own dedicated “store space” on the app where shoppers can browse products with exciting deals, and purchase them straight from the app. For Coca-Cola’s room, the firm will be recreating the festive visit to Santa at the mall, as reported by Campaign.
And in Verizon’s, customers will get to enjoy an AR treasure hunt for holiday deals, with the option to make purchases directly through the lens.
Accompanying this will be a campaign in New York City that will encourage users to open the app to “scan and shop” via QR codes.
“With Snapchat now seeing over six billion AR Lens plays every day from our community, it’s incredibly exciting to see brands lean into our AR platform at this important time of year,” Luke Kallis, VP of US advertiser solutions at Snap, describes to Modern Retail in an email.
The company has reported more than 306 million people using Snapchat every day, with that number reaching up to 500 million monthly.
Besides this AR holiday market, various other brands such American Eagle, Fendi, Shein, and Tory Burch have all partnered with Snap to offer their customers AR try-on and lenses with integrated online shopping options just in time for the festive gifting and sales season.
